If mobile is stolen or lost in railways, how to lodge a complaint through Rail Madad App?
The Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Government of India, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have entered into a partnership to ensure the safety of migrants traveling in Indian Railways by detecting, preventing theft, and recovering stolen mobile phones of migrants.

The Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Government of India, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have entered into a partnership to ensure the safety of migrants traveling in Indian Railways by detecting, preventing theft, and recovering stolen mobile phones of migrants.
This partnership will help Indian Railways to enhance the digital security of millions of railway passengers.
Under this partnership initiative, an advanced mobile security, anti-theft system has been shared with Indian Railways' Rail Madat App through the Sanchar Saathi platform of the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India.
How to complain about a stolen or lost mobile in railways through the 'Rail Madat app'
Step 1: Download the Rail Madat App on your mobile phone
Step 2: Open Rail Madat App
Step 3: In the first row, select the Security option in the Complaint section
Step 4: In the second row, select the Sub Complaint section in Theft of Passengers' Belongings/Snatching option
Step 5: In the third row, Incident Date will automatically take the date and time of the same day
Step 6: In the fourth row, in Complaint Description section, enter "My Mobile Phone was stolen at 03:00 pm on 06/04/2025"
Step 7: In the fifth row of Journey Details, select the PNR/UTS option. If you are travelling by reserving a seat, then select PNR option, or if you are travelling in an unreserved, i.e., general compartment, then select UTS option
Step 8: Finally, click on Submit button
Finally, your complaint will be registered
- The passenger will receive a message from the Rail Madad app after registering the complaint
How will the Sanchar Saathi platform help?
Due to this type of integration, railway passengers will be able to report their lost or stolen mobile through the 'Rail Madat App',
- After which, the complaint will go directly to the Sanchar Sathi platform (https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/)
- From there, the mobile will be blocked as soon as possible,
- Then it will be tracked, and efforts will be made for recovery.
- Due to this, possible cybercrime from mobile will be avoided.
